Jason and Cyndi are professional event organizers who personally curate the perfect trip for each of their visitors. As Alaskan locals who’ve spent the majority of their lives in the guide business, they hold the guest’s experience as their highest priority.
Foster’s Alaska Cabins caters to any guest need and offers plenty of non-fishing activities for every member of the family to get involved. Foster’s goal is to exceed guest expectations from start-to-finish. They deliver on that promise by offering true local Alaskan adventures and unmatched hospitality.
Foster’s guides give guests a very hands-on experience, either helping them operate the power sluice high banker or practice their old-fashioned technique, panning for gold directly from the creek. Gold miners beware, the old Alaskan sourdough homesteaders are known to give newbies to Alaska, or “Chechakos,” the gold fever on these trips.

The scenic and heart-racing adventure begins in the city of Hope, about 70 miles from Foster’s Alaska Cabins. Guests are outfitted in all of the equipment they’ll need for a day spent exploring the ravine, bounding off of rocks from inside rafts and maneuvering rapids. Rafting tours last from 2.5 to 4 hours and only allow strong swimmers to attend; each guest must pass a mandatory swim test before the tour.

Guests get a new perspective of the forest from horseback and take a break midway through the tour for snacks. The horses easily handle the challenging trek as riders relax and take in the peaceful forest scenery.

Action-packed Seward zipline tours last around 3 hours and have guests gliding down 8 ziplines, crossing 3 suspension bridges and rappelling down 2 controlled vertical descents.

Guides arrange to drop guests off and pick them up on their schedule, either to paddle and camp around several lakes, or to float the Swanson River for 24 miles to Captain Cook State Park. Guests can also opt to be self-sufficient on their trip by renting a vehicle from Foster’s, complete with a kayak or canoe rack and all necessary gear.
Learn about local Alaskan history and see dozens of otters, whales, sea ducks and puffins through scenic Eldred Passage. The boat docks in Seldovia around 1 p.m. for a nice lunch in town and time to explore the village before heading back to Foster’s Alaska Cabins. It isn’t uncommon for the boat to be delayed on the way back for extra sightseeing of humpback whales or pods of orcas playing in the bay.
$100 per person
Foster’s Alaska Cabins will arrange for any length tour, where guests will see otters, sea lions, seals, whales, eagles and puffins in their element. The experts recommend booking as much time for the tour as possible, but say guests will still see plenty of the incredible landscape and wildlife on shorter tours.
Pricing determined by length of cruise.
